How it works

For each material, cost = total grams for this print × full spool price ÷ net filament grams. Include supports, skirts and purge material once. Net filament weight excludes the empty spool. Enter all prices in the same currency. The remaining-filament check is independent of the two-material cost calculation.

Worked examples

Main material: 80 g at 600 per 1,000 g costs 48. Second material: 12 g at 1,000 per 500 g costs 24. Total material cost is 72 in the entered currency; these are examples, not market prices. A gross spool of 425 g minus a measured 240 g empty spool and 10 g reserve leaves 175 g. At 80 g per separate print, 2 complete prints fit, leaving 15 g.

Scope & limitations

Usable grams = gross weight − empty spool weight − reserve. Complete repeat prints = floor(usable grams ÷ grams per print). Empty spool weights vary; measure yours. Re-slice a multi-item batch because supports and purge use may change. The result excludes power, labor, machine depreciation, failures and finishing; it is not a customer quote or profit estimate.
